About the event

The Wolverhampton Green Innovation Corridor

The aim of the Green Innovation Corridor (GIC) is to build on Wolverhampton’s growth as a centre for sustainable construction and create skilled jobs for local people in the emerging green economy.It will focus on creating high value jobs in specialist sectors, support student retention, harness home grown talent, develop new opportunities for business investment and growth, and leverage private sector funding.

The initial phases for the GIC will focus on the Springfield Innovation Hub to be developed net carbon zero and based at the University of Wolverhampton’s £120 million Springfield site.


What to expect from the event

You will hear from Prof Prashant Pillai MBE, Pro-Vice Chancellor Research and Knowledge Exchange (University of Wolverhampton) and Ian Culley, Lead Planning Manager (City of Wolverhampton Council) about the GIC and the ways businesses can get involved.The event will also feature business cases from university faculty, showcasing opportunities in green innovation across various sectors such as green construction, green engineering, the green economy, and green computing.This is a unique opportunity to learn about how the GIC and the Springfield Innovation Hub will act as an epicentre for sustainable construction and also about the support available, through University of Wolverhampton's National Brownfield Institute and Innovate UK, for business growth and start ups in the emerging green economy to drive your own business success.
